Stehr Announces Grants for Fire and EMS Companies in Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties

HARRISBURG – Fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in Schuylkill and Northumberland counties have been awarded over $1.6 million and $659,491, respectively, in state funding to strengthen their operations and services, announced Rep. Joanne Stehr (R-Northumberland/Schuylkill).

“These grants provide crucial support to the dedicated first responders who protect our communities,” said Stehr. “Our firefighters and EMS personnel work around the clock to ensure our safety, and they deserve the finest equipment and training to carry out their life-saving work.”

Funding was awarded through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, as created by the General Assembly. Awarded funds can be used to upgrade facilities, purchase new equipment, reduce debt, train members, recruit and retain first responders, and more.
