Stehr Announces Grant to Expand Substance Use Recovery Services in Northumberland County

HARRISBURG – Rep. Joanne Stehr (R-Northumberland/Schuylkill) announced today Oasis Community Recovery Club in Shamokin has been awarded a grant to expand its drop-in center services for individuals with substance use disorders (SUD). 

“This funding is a critical step forward in ensuring individuals battling substance use disorders, homelessness or hunger in our community have access to essential services,” said Stehr. “The resources provided by Oasis Community Recovery Club can make a real difference in helping people get back on their feet. I am committed to supporting initiatives that save lives and strengthen our community.”

The grant will support Oasis Community Recovery Club over a 29-month period, from February 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027. This funding is part of a nearly $20 million investment announced by the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) to support 12 organizations across Pennsylvania.

Drop-in centers like Oasis Community Recovery Club provide safe, judgment-free spaces where individuals can access essential resources and connect to recovery services. Examples of the services offered include:

    • Harm reduction services to prevent overdoses.
    • Daily essentials such as food, clothing, showers and hygiene supplies.
    • Access to free health care services including Hepatitis C/HIV testing and reproductive health care.
    • Referrals to treatment programs, behavioral health resources and legal services.
    • Support groups, case management and advocacy services.

Oasis Community Recovery Club has a proven track record of delivering comprehensive SUD prevention, intervention and recovery support services. The additional funding will allow the organization to expand its reach and continue addressing the needs of individuals impacted by opioid and stimulant misuse in Northumberland County.
